What’s your Horrible BIM blog name?

Rebranding and Evolution

I’ve been spending a lot of time working on what’s next with my career, my company and my writing. This year has been one of upheaval, risk, and experimentation. Remember the last two weeks? I think next week I’ll share some more news about this fall. And then later about what’s coming in 2013. Once I figure that out. Lots of exciting stuff. This week and last I published 5 blog posts each week, which is WAY more than I typically do. And probably more than I should do, for my own sanity. But looking at my backlog of posts, I’ve got 100+ written or half written, plus plenty more ideas in the ‘to write about’ list. Not to mention the ‘to make a video of’ list. So for better or worse, I’m letting many of those posts see the light of day, or deleting them forever. Both options are liberating.

Additionally, over the last two weeks I did some house keeping around the blog. I’m much happier with the sidebar now. I love the tag cloud. Much prettier. One of my next tasks is to develop a new tagline for the website. I still believe in the mission of ‘support and training for forward thinking people‘. But that reflects an idea that’s 2 1/2 years old. And it doesn’t accurately cover where I’m going, just where I’ve been. I’ll hopefully debut a new tagline with accompanying thoughts later this month (it IS October, right?). And after that? Maybe a long overdue new logo.

In the meantime, let’s have some fun.

There’s an attraction to adding BIM into the name of blogs dedicated to Building Information Management. Sometimes this is very successful: Who’s afraid of the Big Bad BIM? That is definitely a great question for many, many practitioners in our AEC world. The name of Erik’s blog makes me think of a post I recently wrote… (link intentionally not provided). Conversely, there are some awful names too. I doubt these exist, but there are many blogs called something like:

BIM for Breakfast

A BIMlanced BIMfast

BIM facts

BIMboozled

A BIM a day keeps the Doctor Away.

BIMiny Cricket

BIMy McBIMster and the BIMest of the BIMmers…

Who else has one? What’s the most ridiculous imaginary BIM blog name you can think of?

BIMzilla vs Mecha-BIMzilla

BIMzilla vs Mecha-BIMzilla

Thanks for the mention. Site looks great. Love the tag cloud.

While the 5 posts a week may have been tough, the content was solid. Keep it coming.

    Oh and;

    Thanks Djordje.

Oops! It was supposed to be a horrible name… 😉

Okay two really, genuinely, nauseatingly horrible names coming up (and to make it worse, they can both be sung!).

    1. House of BIMboo!
    2. BIMbo (waccha going to do-e-o)

My Pseudonym at Revit Forum is Mr. BIMbastic. Could easily be worked into a Blog name. 🙂
