Become an ArchiCAD 19 Beta Tester
This year Graphisoft is trying something new. They are opening up their application to become a beta tester for ArchiCAD 19 to the entire community. If you are interested, click the image above or this link to apply.
Being a part of the beta test is awesome for so many reasons. Some of which I can’t actually share because of NDAs and such. But here’s what I think I can say:
- You get to see the next release of ArchiCAD before everyone else.
- You get to test the software, find bugs, and help the next release be the best it possibly can be.
- You get to influence the future of the software, by being involved in discussions about the beta.
- You get to talk with other passionate users about the future of ArchiCAD in a private environment.
- You get to talk with the DEVELOPERS of ArchiCAD about the future of AchiCAD.
- Doors open.
Okay, let’s talk about that last one. Being an active member of the beta tester community is a great opportunity to expand your presence in the ArchiCAD and BIM community. Being an active member of the beta tester community helps you get noticed by other ArchiCAD experts and by key people on the development side of Graphisoft. Do you have a passion for a certain aspect of ArchiCAD or BIM? Imagine you can share that passion in a way that improves the next release of ArchiCAD and catches the eye of Graphisoft. What happens next? I know. Others do too.
If you want to take your passion for the future of the practice of architecture, BIM, and ArchiCAD to new levels, consider applying to be a part of the ArchiCAD 19 Beta community. It’ll be the start of something awesome.
02/27/15 Update: For the last question in the sign up questionnaire, check one box. If you check other, write a short sentence. For some of us the application wasn’t going through. The form wasn’t prepared to handle more than 250 characters of text, so those of us who checked all the boxes and/or wrote something long caused the form to freak out. Punishment for being a wordy over-achiever. I was obviously tripped up by this too!
If you are just a little curious and will only half-ass it, don’t bother signing up. Beta testing is a great opportunity but also a responsibility. Subscribe to my blog to read more about the tricky world of being an Architect in the 21st century. Shoegnome on Facebook, Twitter, and the RSS feed.

I remember writing emails begging and pleading to become an ArchiCAD 7 beta tester. I was denied the opportunity to become part of that special group. It was only a year later that I was finally accepted to be a part of the ArchiCAD 8 Beta program. And I’ve enjoyed participating ever since.
Now in ArchiCAD 19, Graphisoft is presenting s really great opportunityto any ArchiCAD enthusiast who wants to get closer to the program and the people that develop it. Close, like one-on-one conversations close.
But be careful what you wish for – there is a lot of testing to be done. It’s worth it IMHO, but yes definitely only sign up if you’re committed and have the time to spare.
I really love the fact that Graphisoft appreciates their users enough to invite them to participate in this program. Many software vendors wouldn’t be so open.
Cheers,
Link.

ArchiCAD 7!? Wow. Old timer. I think I joined with 16? I can’t even remember now. Yes, It’s a good reminder that if someone applies and doesn’t get picked, it’s worth trying again next year if the opportunity returns. Or getting to know other power users, as there are many routes to this honor/chore…

I switched from a program called Architrion in 1991 to Archicad (ver. 4.1). It was exciting to work in a new way (and frustrating as well) and it’s gotten better over the years. During the Archicad middle ages (’98-’99?), I did some Beta testing for Revit before version 1 of that software was released. However, I stuck with Archicad and I’m glad I did.
As always I want Archicad to do more and I try to push the boundaries which is why I like this blog and why I would be interested in the testing program. One question, is the beta stable enough to complete work on or is it just for experimenting with?
Thanks,
Mark

Awesome! Keeping my fingers crossed with this one!

Great opportunity, I have never tried to become a beta tester but the idea of being part of that community and having the opportunity to get GS to unlock pieces of data that I could use to blow minds is too good to pass up.
Come on GS let me in, together we can “do the same thing we do every night pinky… try to take over the world!”

Hi, I filled out the form….don’t know if it went through…it didn’t say anything like “thank you for your submission”….did you encounter the same thing? just wondering…maybe the site is very busy… 😉

Same here.

I had the same issue. For the last question, just check one box, or if you check other just write a short sentence. What is happening is that the form wasn’t prepared to handle longer than 250 characters of text, so those of us who check all the boxes and/or write something long cause the form to freak out.

Thanks for blogging about this, Jared. Now I have my fingers (as well as my toes, eyes, arms and legs) crossed.

Graphisoft would be wise to pick you as a beta tester!

Let’s see what GS feels about that! 🙂

I have been fascinated by ArchiCAD v12 the 1st time user in 2012. I am a self taught ArchiCAD v12 user whereby currently using ArchiCAD v14. I have a passion to assist in the design team to perfect the upcoming ArchiCAD v19 to meet some of my customized needs. I am looking forward for ArchiCAD v19 to incorporate 4D(Time/intergrate Microsoft project 2013/2015, 5D(Cost), 6D(facilities management/inventory package) & Maybe 7D(maintenance and operations package? Also compatible with data extracted from 3D laser scanner and 3D scan Rader tomography underground.

To date ArchiCAD v20 has been released and I am amazed by it but it still needs 4D & 5D integrated or plug in/add-on to facilitate costs and construction.

There are a number of programs that work with ARCHICAD or data from ARCHICAD for 4D & 5D needs. Reach out to https://twitter.com/skewedBIM and https://twitter.com/bondbryanBIM on Twitter. They’ll tell you what you need to know.
