The long term plan for these clients was to build a detached accessory dwelling unit (DADU) in their backyard to live in once their kids went off to college. An unexpected job change right before groundbreaking meant this project went on indefinite hold. Subsequent zoning and building code changes in the years since mean plenty of opportunity to alter and improve the design should the post kids DADU dream still happen.
