Models from a Previous Life
Models from a Previous Life
Between 1999 and 2005 I built a lot of physical models—both for school and work. The weirdest model was a full scale mock-up of a monument to George H.W. Bush. You can read more about that experience in the link below. Let’s just say it was a growth opportunity for me. While I no longer build physical models, these all have historical significance to me. The first image is the model I built to get my first architecture job (a summer internship where the interview was model building, how cool is that?). The second is a model that I built for a professor after my junior year at Rice University. The money I made from that opportunity paid for my wife’s engagement ring. The third picture is the last model I built in school. The orange rocks are candy from Spain our professor gave us a few hours before pencils down. We were supposed to eat the candy, not use as a building material.
