Shirley’s House

Shirley’s House

In addition to fully remodeling the interior, we enclosed a porch—adding 35 sq ft of conditioned space—in order to create a second bathroom. As with many of my projects, one of the goals was to make it look like we never touched the house. I think we succeeded: a history of architecture professor giving a lecture at the 2024 CRAN Symposium in Seattle used this as her example of a classic 1908 Seattle house. She lived in the neighborhood, knew the previous long term owner, and our changes to the home kept it authentic to its original character. I was sitting in the audience, completely surprised to see my work on display a day before I was scheduled to speak about The Art and Business of BIM for Residential Design & Practice.
