One Year of Blogging and some Great Screencasts
So July 11th will be one complete year of blogging for me. I haven’t missed a week, even though my wife and I became parents for the second time in late March, we spent two weeks in Wyoming with little to no internet access, and among many other plausible excuses I got the flu for the first time in my life a month ago. June in Minnesota is NOT supposed to be flu season (I’m just finally feeling back to 100%). I’m very pleased that, in addition to not missing a week, I also hit two other major goals I’d set for my first year: breaking the arbitrary 1,000/visits a week threshold (top week now sits at 1,357) and exceeding 100 posts in the first year (this is post 103). I’ll probably write a short post about goals and tracking in October, since I didn’t start using Google Analytics until October.
Anyways this is Fourth of July weekend and it’s about time I spent a three day weekend actually treating it like a weekend. In honor of one year of blogging, this week’s Sunday post will thus be a short and reflective post, as is already obvious. (If you haven’t noticed, Sunday is my regular big post day. Other days are bonus posts). But I don’t want to leave my readership empty-handed, with nothing ArchiCAD related to read or learn about. So watch these awesome screencasts by Link Ellis. There are twelve of them as of today. I’ve praised Link before. These screencasts are more reasons why.
Also if you’re new(er) to the blog, there’s a full year’s worth of old posts to catch up on. This week would be a good time to sift through the archives! Now on to relaxing and Year 2.

Eric, thanks. Surprisingly it’s gotten easier with time! Coming up with ideas that is, not finding the time to write!

Great job Jared. Keep up the good work and thanks for the kind words. Congratulations on becoming a daddy all over again! Whereabouts were you in Wyoming? I lived there briefly before I married a local and brought her down under. 🙂
Cheers,
Link.

My wife’s parents live in Sheridan. So we’ve been going to Wyoming about once or twice a year for the past decade now. Where in WY were you?
Oh and thanks for the screencasts! Keep those up as well!

Hey my wife is from Sheridan too. That’s where we got married. Her family is still there and we visit every couple of years. Elizabeth’s maiden name is Freeman. Email me if you like at link at archink dot net. Cheers.
