Archicad by the Beach 2023
BIM6x is returning to Cabo San Lucas this fall for another Archicad by the Beach, and once again I have the honor of being one of the trainers. If you use Archicad, you should absolutely join us October 28 – November 5, 2023.
In addition to doing one-on-one training and talking about Archicad pretty much non-stop in my free time, I’ll be giving a two-part lecture.
Speed and Complexity in Archicad: Bathrooms and Kitchens
Bathrooms are in virtually every project. They are an inescapable aspect of working in Archicad. Using recent residential projects as well as the Shoegnome Open Template, I’ll discuss both fast, schematic bathrooms and hyper-detailed, complex situations. We’ll explore many different aspects of Archicad from modeling and annotation to documentation and beyond. We’ll also discuss the Interior Elevation Tool and highlight the power and importance of Favorites.
Kitchens are complicated. Modeling and documenting them should not be. I’ll build on concepts discussed in Speed and Complexity, Part 1 and explore a variety of kitchens. We’ll start with the simplest as-built kitchens and work our way to the most complex kitchens where every knob is custom and perfectly located. We’ll explore both the how and why of modeling and documenting these important spaces. Throughout this two part lecture series, we’ll focus on how to design, sketch, document, and visualize in Archicad.

Read my recap post about Archicad by the Beach 2019 to understand why you should join us in Mexico.
But maybe you’ve already read that blog post, memorized every word, and are hung up on how insane the event sounds. How will you convince anyone (your boss, your spouse, your kids, your imaginary friend who whispers quietly into your ear every night “anything that seems like a treat is a lie”) that Archicad by the Beach is worth attending? I could argue that the cost of the event would be good if it were just 9 days in Cabo without Archicad. Or that the cost would be reasonable if it was just 9 days stuck in a dark conference room in suburban Chicago, listening to Archicad lectures and getting one-on-one training with some of the top Archicad users in the world. Or that the cost was actually inconsequential because it’s a business write-off. But that won’t convince anyone, especially anyone telling you that Cabo is too extravagant. Because it’s not actually about the cost or the location or the trainers. If you see the benefit in a major Archicad training event, then I don’t need to convince you of all the above (insane location, incredible trainers, great cost to value proposition). And if you don’t understand why 9 days of intensive Archicad training is the right business decision, well…let’s talk about that.
You worked hard. You’re a good architect. You know a thing or two about Archicad. You’re busy. You’ve got responsibilities. And just couldn’t possibly take a week and a half to become even better.
Why not? Invest in yourself. Join us in Cabo and spend the time becoming better at your job. Network with other passionate Archicad users and architects. Learn and grow. And you know what? Have a good time in an amazing location at the same time. Why not? What else are you up to October 28th to November 5th, 2023? Talking about how busy you are? How you wished you had more time? How it’d be great to take more advantage of what Archicad has to offer? How in 2024 you’ll totally take a vacation and do that continuing education you’ve been meaning to do… how one day you’ll definitely go on some amazing vacations…
